That earth pony was up to something. She could feel it. A glimpse of tension on his face, a slight rush in hes actions. Silent signals of his motifs. And still - she followed.

— C'mon, get in there.- he gestured, opening door for her.

The car itself resembled more a mesh-mash of different parts, than something coherent. You can vaguely guess an old street race classic from Japone in it, if you squint hard enough. All inside furnishing - removed. Only seats and essential interior parts where [keept] in place. And some of them looked like they where taken straight from the dumpster. Time took it's toll, and that what’s left for car owner to deal with.

Par took a passenger seat on the left, closing the door. Inside car was different. Clean. Sterile even. No grime, no smells whatsoever. Earth pony plopped on a drivers seat some moment later. Bit of hesitation, then he handed something to her. A white piece of fabric. A blindfold.

— Put it on,- he said calmly,- gesturing at own eyes.

Pegasus didn't argue, didn’t ask. She took her glasses off, blindfolded themselves, leaned back in her seat. Now only sounds left for her to relay upon.

Doors closed, locks clicked in place. She expected roar of an engine, a violent takeoff. None of that happened. Сar started moving. Smooth. Too smooth to be true.

No music, no talk. Only faint thin whine and tires rustling indicated their movement. Yet car picked up speed.

She felt like car parted the city - hard bump marked city border and transition to the highway. Car didn't slow even a bit. After that - just a float and steady tire noise. Time felt nonexistent. After one sharp turn smooth ride turned bumpy. Then it felt like car going uphill. Then stop.

She heard the driver got out off the car. He hastily circled around and opened a passenger door. Then helped her stand. He lead her somewhere.

— Step… Another… And another… Here we go,- she heard his mumbling. So distant for some reason.

Then in one swift move cloth that blindfolded her - removed. In front of her - only bright colorful blob of light. She puts her glasses on. As eyes adjusted blob started to get to the shape. Clearer, sharper.

The vast City, surrounded by rings of trees and greenery, gleaming with street lights and neon, took all entirety of her view. Car drove substantial amount of time, yet seemed they barely moved away from it. Par found herself on edge of a cliff. Underneath - highway illuminated by warm yellow glow of sodium lamps like giant artery headed to the City, car light flashing in and out.

Crackling sound in a distance made pegasus jump and stare in direction of a sound. One of corporate towers set off fireworks. Smaller first. They briefly flashed illuminating surrounding buildings. Then bigger, higher, until couple of utterly giant fiery (colorful) umbrellas with loud bangs unfolded up above dimming the stars.

— They sure on time. As always...- she heard soft voice of an earth pony.- Every year, same time..

Par’s hind legs trembled, before betraying her completely. She just sat where she was, still staring dead ahead, hot tears rolling her cheeks. For the first time she felt something, she can't quite place, and sure enough it was warm, comforting feeling.
