Disposition

Mood track:

The rain drenched the city day and night.

You were on target, chased her down, cornered to a parking lot. Saw her running up a ramp and followed. On the top floor, were you finally caught up, you find yourself ankle deep in a rainwater.

Description was correct: attractive deer, slender, wearing blinding white robe. She stands in a distance, her back turned to you. You notice the temperature drop. It's so low you can see vapor clouds forming from your breath. You make a step forward, then stop in hesitation. You're under an open sky, there's should be the rain, yet you see only thick snow falling around. For a brief moment she turns her head and gives you that sad melancholic look over the shoulder. Next moment all water on the ground turns to ice.

The battle begins.

Unequal power

Mood track:

Snow became a blizzard.

You hid behind the car, peeking over it's trunk.

ACT: talk

— …, you don't have to!

You trying to call her name, but your words was swallowed by a blizzard.

She rises a hand. One apathetic gesture - the wall of ice digs into car's side, splitting it in half. You're in the open now.

ACT: evade

Another wave of ice blows past you. You managed to escape, landing awkwardly behind another car, closer to your target. Also you notice something. The temperature. It's going down constantly. It's much much colder now. Deer is watching you, eyes glowing bright white, without apparent emotions to her face. She rises hand again.

ACT: talk (beg)

— Listen! It doesn't have to be that way! I’ll pull some strings! We can get highest level cover up possible! Just… stop… …!

Yet her name again lost to the wind.

You see car(watch, notice) cover in thin blue ice, dense cracks propagating through it. With loud metallic crunch car became a pile of rusted trash.

ATC: evade

You move frantically between the cars, stopping behind the cover only to watch how it would be crushed by sheer force of ice and cold. Last car you hid behind was ripped apart by a giant ice pillar, that shattered afterwards, sending thin ice shards around. You have no cover now. Between you and your target — an open space. There's nowhere to hide.

ACT: rush

Temperature drops even more.

You rush forward in an attempt to get as close as possible. Muscles are stiff and sluggish. You're not as nimble as you wanted to be. Cold bites you under your clothes. You're slowed to a crawl. Only couple of meters separate you and the target. Sheet of ice form on your limbs, pinning you to the ground. There's cold. Too cold now. She stares at you blankly. You see another spell forming.

ACT: dagger

With one limb still free you reach for your dagger.

ACT: hurt

You took a swing. Dagger falls, piercing ice clump formed on another limb, hurting you in a process. You twist the dagger. Ice shatters setting your limb free. She watches.

ACT: break free

In a desperate attempt to break free from ice shakes you swing your hind legs, breaking them free. She waits.

ACT: throw

You threw the dagger to the side.

ACT: hug

You lunge forward (reaching the target embracing her in a hug), embracing the deer in a hug. The cold burns you. Icy air feels like blades in your lungs. You feel ice forming on your eyes. You cannot feel you legs. Muscles are stiff. You feel sleepy. You hear the wind whining.

The paramedics team dug you out of what looked like a giant snow drift, enclosed in a thin ice shell. No frostbite, no pneumonia. You just feel sluggish like you would be after a long and deep sleep. Your target is nowhere to be found, but you can feel like she will (would) be ok. The only task is left for you is to invent a plausible story for your client. It can wait. You should rest now.
